Nail Fungus - Ugh

Nail fungus (onychomycosis) is most often seen as a white or yellow spot under the nail. Not to be confused with athlete’s foot (tinea pedis), which infects the areas between your toes and the skin of your feet. Nail fungus can also affect fingernails, but it is more common in toenails. As the nail fungal infection progresses deeper, it may cause your nail to discolor, thicken, and crumble at the edge. It can also affect several of your nails. April is Foot Health Awareness Month
Did you know your feet carry you around 115,000 miles in your life? Keeping your feet healthy is important!
To keep your feet healthy:
  Look at your feet each day with a mirror. Check for peeling, dry skin, or cracks.
  Dry your feet and between your toes after you shower to help prevent infections. Then use a good lotion to moisturize your feet (but not between your toes).
  Don’t leave nail polish on all year. Especially if you are topically treating them for nail fungus.   Stretch your feet, ankles, and legs regularly to keep your muscles strong.
  If you have diabetes (high blood sugar), see a foot doctor regularly.
  Be active and eat healthy foods. This can help you stay at a healthy weight. Being overweight can lead to foot problems.
  Make sure your shoes fit well! Wear shoes with a good support and a low heel. Limit how often you wear flats, sandals, or high heels. If you need more arch support, try inserts.
